Our Litter D

Max and Rheia brought together several lovely lines we had been hoping to return to in our breeding programme. Max is owned by our friend Kristýna, so we already knew him well from shows and had plenty of opportunities to see what kind of dog he really is — not only a very handsome male, but also one with a wonderful temperament and a genuine willingness to work.

For us, he complemented Rheia in many ways, and we were therefore absolutely delighted when Kristýna agreed to the mating. Unfortunately, the timing was not entirely on our side and the litter resulted in “only” two puppies. But in this case, the phrase quality over quantity could not have been more appropriate.

Raising just two puppies was also a very different experience for us — and, in many ways, quite refreshing. It allowed us to spend an incredible amount of individual time with both of them and to watch their personalities develop very closely from the very beginning.

We knew almost immediately that we wanted to keep the little girl in order to continue these lines within Winyela. As the weeks went by, that feeling only became stronger. By autumn, we could finally make it official: Suri had become the newest member of Team Winyela.

She represents a very special continuation of two families we value greatly. Unfortunately, Suri was later diagnosed with OCD, and for this reason she will not be used in our breeding programme. Although this was of course disappointing, her health and wellbeing will always come first, and she remains a much-loved member of Team Winyela.
